An important part of our faith is putting it into action to serve those around us. Gator Wesley offers opportunities to serve locally in Gainesville, around the state of Florida, all around the US and internationally.

Local Service & Advocacy

Over the past few years we have been involved with local organizations such as the St. Francis House, Bread for the Mighty Food Bank, Trinity UMC’s CHEERS program, the HOPE Lodge, Grace Marketplace, Peaceful Paths, Habitat for Humanity, the Humane Society, Adopt a Street Clean Up, Relay for Life, the CROP Hunger Walk, the Blood Mobile and the L’Arche Community in Jacksonville



Gator Wesley hosts National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week events.  Check out the flyer below for the activities.


State & International Service & Advocacy

Gator Wesley has taken trips to Branches Florida City and Branches South Miami.  Gator Wesley has also participated in the Florida Annual Conference’s Imagine No Malaria.  You can donate to Imagine No Malaria here.  Gator Wesley last Fall hosted a “Wesley Walks Worldwide” and learned more about the countries (Angola, Cuba and Haiti) that the Florida Annual Conference is in relationship.

United Methodist Seminars on National & International Affairs

United Methodist Seminars on National and International Affairs or the Seminar Program, provides custom-designed, interactive educational seminars throughout the year for groups to study complex social issues from a perspective of faith.  Gator Wesley has taken seminars on intimate partner violence, on homelessness, and on human trafficking.  We take these trips yearly.  Our next seminar will be in Washington, DC on human trafficking Spring Break 2016.

Spring Break Mission Encounters

Gator Wesley has taken encounters in the past to South Africa, a Choctaw Reservation, the Hinton Rural Life Center, Pura Vida Missions in Costa Rica, ReCreation in Asheville, NC and this past year we took two trips: Cange, Haiti and Branches South Miami.
